ZOOM - How To Guide

Zoom

Connect with your Community Group

During this time of “social distancing,” we desire for Community Groups to stay connected with each other.  We want to help our leaders learn and become familiar in how to use Zoom, a free video conferencing service. This will allow your group to “meet” without having to be in the same room at your normal time or maybe a different time that works better for your group.

In the days ahead, you may receive an email from your group leader that contains a link to a Zoom meeting. As a participant, you do not need a Zoom account – you just have to open this link on a mobile device or computer.

It will help if you go ahead and download Zoom on the device you plan to use.

You may also want to watch this video for a quick overview of how to join a meeting for the first time or you can follow the instructions below.

Here’s what to expect when you receive an invitation:

Mobile Device:

Open the email and click on the “Join Zoom Meeting” link.
If you already have the Zoom app, click the “Join the Meeting” link.
If you don’t have the app, follow the link to download the Zoom app and you may have to go back to the Zoom page and then click “Join Meeting.”
Allow Zoom to access your camera and microphones.
Click on “Join with video” to activate.
Click to use Audio.
Once the meeting starts, you should be good to go.

Computer:

Open the email and click on the “Join Zoom Meeting” link.
Follow the download/run prompts for installing Zoom.
Once downloaded you can type your name and click “Join Meeting”
Click “Join with Video”
Click “Join with Computer Audio”
Once the meeting starts, you should be good to go.
